Mentor

HERMINIO (SONNY) COLOMA, JR.\'s professional career spans more than four decades of work and involvement in the academe, business and industry, government and civil society. He is currently the Executive Vice President of the Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation.

In the Cabinet of President Benigno Aquino III, he served for the entire term as Communications Secretary and presidential spokesperson, while overseeing the government\'s public broadcasting network, printing facilities and field communications offices. He was also co-chairman of the UNESCO national commission of the Philippines.

He also served in the government of President Corazon Aquino as head of the Presidential Management Staff, deputy executive secretary, transportation undersecretary, and agrarian reform undersecretary. In President Joseph Ejercito Estrada\'s administration, he served as transportation undersecretary, in which capacity he headed the Philippine delegation to the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

He was the Don Jose Cojuangco Professor of Business Management at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) where he served as dean for executive education and program director for development management. He also served as President of the University of Makati.

He has worked as a senior executive and management consultant in several private corporations, public sector organizations, and international multilateral organizations, among which were: Asian Development Bank, US Agency for International Development Canadian International Development Agency, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Land Bank of the Philippines, Social Security System, San Miguel Corporation, Philippine National Bank, Far East Bank and Trust Company, Transnational Diversified Group, Loyola Plans Consolidated, Inc., and Loyola Plans Consolidated, Inc.

He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the Philippines and a Master in Business Management degree (With Distinction) from the Asian Institute of Management. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the School of Organization Development at the Southeast Asia Interdisciplinary Development Institute (SAIDI).

He served as President of the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) where he continues to be involved in research and publications. He was Chairman of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippine chapter. He is a member of the Management Association of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) and the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (Finex).

In Rotary International, he served as District Governor and international training leader. He was also President of the Church of the Poor Apostolate Foundation of the Parish of Saint James the Great and Trustee of the Evelio Javier Foundation.
